FEBRUARY LETTER

Hello Comenius friends,

How are you all? Having a good time?

We've already audio recorded the words, phrases and dialogues. We loved doing this work because the recordings are with our own voices. The video recording will be done by the 9th grade. This class is also working in the project as a club. They’ve seen the texts that our class wrote and will perform them.
It's very funny.

At the end of the first term in our school we had a Christmas party. We had to decorate our Christmas tables and brought food to eat together. Our Christmas table was one of the most beautiful in the school.

The first week after vacation was a little hard to wake up early but then we started to get used to school schedules. A student in our class represented us in Finland and when he came back to school, we asked him many questions. Edgar told us many interesting things and he said he was in the sauna and then went in boxers (underwear) running in the snow.

Now in Project Work we are reading «the Bronze Boy» written by Sophia de Mello Breyner an important Portuguese writer.

Our class is also working in a project which is a surprise for Carnival.
Last news, our school bar has put the prices down. Now everything is cheaper.

Did they drop the prices of anything in your school?
Do you also celebrate Carnival in your school?

Kisses from the Portuguese students and we are looking forward to receiving your letters

Second letter from Portugal

Barcelinhos, 18th May 2010

Dear Comenius partners
How are you? We are fine and having a good time.
We have already entered spring. The weather is warm and the sun has appeared at last. We had a lot of rain this year but now it’s very hot and sunny.
At Easter, we make cakes, cookies and boiled eggs. We decorate the table with food. We also eat almonds. The priest visits the houses with Jesus in the cross. We kiss the cross with our family and friends.
We are in the 3rd term now.
On the 24th March, there were no classes and we celebrated Students’ day. There was a song contest and a spelling test. José Luis won the spelling test. We had lunch with our teachers in the classrooms. There was also a volleyball match and we won. We are the fifth grade champions in out school.
On the 16th April we had a trip to a pedagogical farm. There were a lot of farm animals like horses, donkeys, ponies, sheep, pigs, geese, ducks, chicken, peacocks, turkeys and rabbits. All the farm products are biological, it means without any chemicals. In the farm there are gardens, a kitchen garden, hot houses and many fields. We cleaned the ponies and then had a ride.
We had three days holiday: the 25th April, which is the day of Liberty; the 1st May, which is Labour day; the 3rd May, which is the town holiday – the day of the crosses. Then the Pope came to Portugal and we didn’t have classes on the 13th May.
On the 17th June there will be a song contest in our school. In our class, some students are going to sing.
Our summer holidays start on the 18th June.
We also changed one hour forward on March, 28 but we are still one hour less then in Spain, Italy and Holland and two hours less for the other countries.
We have some extra curricular activities at school like indoor football, computers, story time, environment club (PROSEPE) and BTT.
Hugo and Catarina went to Madrid and they loved it and meeting you all especially Angel and Berta who were their hosts.
Now, we wish you all very nice holidays and hope to be in touch with you next school year.
Goodbye and take care.
